Construction and mining equipment manufacturer Caterpillar Inc. plans to expand its China-based research and development operations, RTTNews reports.
The company also said it would increase the capacity of Shandong Engineering Machinery, or SEM.
The company's policy to support the expanded manufacturing footprint being implemented in China and the rising market demand in emerging markets led to additional research and development, or R&D, effort, Caterpillar noted.
Caterpillar's operations have benefited from China's remarkable economic growth and we are proud to be a part of this historical transformation, says Jim Owens, chairman and ceo. China is also our home. We look forward to making an even bigger contribution to the economy and people of this country."
