Appointing non-professional investors for the first time in four years, Nomura Holdings Inc. plans to sell corporate bonds to individuals, Bloomberg News reports.
Nomura will sell three-year bonds with a coupon between 0.7% and 1.7%, and will decide the amount and terms after conducting marketing from Sept. 9 to Sept. 18, it said in a statement to the finance ministry.
Japan's central bank this month kept interest rates at 0.5%, the lowest level among major economies, limiting the appeal of savings accounts for individuals looking to invest their summer bonuses. The nation's workers receive about ¥15 trillion ($137 billion) of bonuses around July every year, according to Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting Co.
